part one: ooc intro!
name: Mila
part two: mild mannered ic!
civilian name: Daniel William Letham
age: 31
occupation: Daniel is a heavy hitting lawyer for one of the most prestigious law groups in Electric City; Sommerland Morgan
education: Law degree
appearance: Daniel is a pretty boy. He keeps himself well dressed and trimmed, save for the stubble on his face that gives him a slightly boyish and rebellious appearance. His blue eyes sparkle with mischievousness and at times a manic glee. He's tall and built well, not at all forgettable, and oftentimes imposing. His strong jaw can be pleasing or intimidating, depending on how he's looking at you.
personality: Daniel; Despite all his cut throat lawyering, Daniel can be a rather fun guy to be around. He's got a strange and slightly morbid sense of humor which manages to slip out here and there when he's around those he's comfortable with. But he's a loner by nature, likes to be by himself or in small groups. At times he finds it almost painful to be in large groups for whatever reason, but does it so that the image he desires as a high powered lawyer is held in place. He loves his family and would do anything for them, including returning to the park to retrieve a forgotten teddy bear at two am. He was devastated at their loss and is unsure that he's ever going to be capable of caring that much ever again.
Johnny; He holds to his loner behavior more strongly. He likes to work alone for two reasons, nobody to worry about, nobody to yell at him. He can work with others if he absolutely has to, but gets quickly annoyed when they frown at him for how many fatal bullets fly from his guns. His first concern is cleaning up Electric City, getting rid of as much crime as possible. Very adamantly insists his name is not Johnny Outlaw despite the fact that it's the only thing people call him due to his wanton killing of bad guys.
Post-Death; Withdrawn and sober, it seems that Johnny's morbid sense of humor has expanded quite a bit. Perhaps that's what death does to a guy. He's more bent on revenge than law and order anymore. Opting for scarier tactics to get the job done than he had previously. He gets lost in thought when things are quiet. Johnny is somewhat colder toward others, somewhat less caring about their general well being or how they might react to the things that he does. Wholeheartedly accepts the Outlaw moniker.
history: Daniel wanted to be a lawyer all his life. That's what his daddy did. It was a good life, and provided well for the family, and the work was interesting. 'Never let life get boring, Danny' his daddy used to say. Then come home with exciting stories of his most recent trial.
His mother had died a year after giving birth to him, from a blood clot that had formed during labor and later traveled through her heart and all the way into her brain. That left Daniel and his father to fend for themselves, which they did quite well. He missed his mother, but his father was a very open man and let Daniel talk any time he needed to about that. It made it feel as if she were still with them somehow. Watching over them.
He made friends easy growing up, and found that he was rather popular with everybody. His grades were always good and the work to get them effortless for Daniel. He was a good, and honest boy, never getting into trouble, and never doing anything that might be considered iffy.
Jack Letham died in a suspicious car accident two weeks before Daniel graduated high school. The loss of his best friend and mentor only spurred Daniel on to his dream of becoming a lawyer. He wanted to make his father proud, and felt that the best way to do that would be to continue school and become the best attorney he could possibly be. He poured his entire being into the books and his social life dwindled. He stopped seeing people and going out as much to make sure that his marks stayed at the absolute top. Daniel soon found that he liked this solitary existence. There was quiet there. It gave him time to think, and time to just be. He made sure to show his face during breaks in school and at the bigger parties, but only because he felt it necessary for his career.
Daniel graduated at the top of his class at 24.
Shortly thereafter, somebody broke through his desire to live a solitary life. Kathryn O'Day was a feisty redhead that literally walked into Daniel outside of a coffee shop. Things were spilled, curses said, but once they locked eyes, everything was forgotten. Their romance was intense and after five short months, they were married.
Amanda Letham was born eight and a half months later with a shock of red hair to rival her mother's.
The two of them together made up the center of Daniel's world. He put them before everything. His work, himself, and sometimes even his obligations. Just thinking about them made him break out into gleeful smiles. He had pictures of them everywhere to look at whenever he felt the need to, and he felt it a lot. They were his treasure.
Four years, they lived a good life. Had a large house. Katie had whatever fancy clothes she desired, even some she didn't because Daniel couldn't resist buying her pretty things. Mandy had so many toys that they had to convert a room into a playroom for her to keep them all. But neither of them ever acted spoiled. They appreciated their lives and the things that Daniel was able to give them.
It was an ordinary day. Daniel was at work, Katie had taken Mandy to the park for their after lunch walk. He'd been planning to surprise them both by arriving home early and whisking them off to a vacation with sun and sand and tropical weather. At 2:45pm, he got a phone call from the police. They'd been attacked while walking home. Mandy mutilated and then killed, Katie with a much worse fate. They found her body abused and dismembered.
Daniel's heart broke. For months he lost the will to do much of anything. He floated through work until his boss made him take a few weeks off. With those, he did nothing. He slept on the couch, watched daytime T.V., hardly ate, and drank quite a bit. He forced himself to go back to work and put on a strong face so that he wouldn't lose his job. Soon he discovered it was easier to throw himself into the work than to think about anything. He became absurdly driven and refused to defend anybody he thought might be even mildly guilty. His prosecutions came down hard and swift, and soon there wasn't anybody in the city who was confident going up against him in a courtroom.
What caused him to start his search for his family's killer even he doesn't know. He began by sifting through the files he could get his hands on, and then continued by hitting the streets at night. By the light of day he did his job, and after sunset he roughed up the baddest of the bad for whatever information they would give him. The bruises on the city's criminals became the talk of the police station water cooler.
It took Daniel 10 months to find the man, and when he did, he killed him.
After a few day's consideration and imagining what he could do for the city, Johnny Law was born.
Things were roughly thrown together at first, he had a motorcycle, a hat, and two near-rusted old guns, but as his face became known somebody stepped forward to help. Daniel started to get odd mail at his office that he blew off at first as a prank. Then came the first package. The guns that replaced his originals were shiny and extremely high tech, though they appeared to be normal six shooters. From then on, he trusted in the letters and followed the instructions to drop off locations immediately, always finding some new toy to aid him in his work. Very early on in his work, he discovered that he was much more satisfied with what he was doing when he just shot dead all the worthless scum. Besides, it saved the police work and the citizens tax money in his opinion.
With his penchant for killing every baddie that crossed his path, Johnny Law gained the nickname Johnny Outlaw, which he found absolutely impossible to shake.
When the blonds started dying, the city was in an uproar. It soon became obvious that Electric City had it's very first real villain. Daniel got the brilliant idea to use his assistant to bait the guy. The setup went horribly wrong, and the girl got killed. Daniel Letham also disappeared shortly after, leaving the city to assume that The Butcher had gotten him too.
Taking up the mantle of Johnny full time, he decided he had to put together a team to take down the madman. Carefully thought out, and planned, Johnny and his team of vigilantes went in determined and with guns blazing. They were victorious in their efforts at the cost of Johnny's life.
Johnny Outlaw was 31 years old when he died.
loved ones: Amanda Letham (Daughter, 4) Deceased, Kathryn Letham (Wife, 27) Deceased, Jack Letham (Father) Deceased, Rosie Letham (Mother) Deceased
influences: Daniel is quite influential in Electric City. He's got ties with all the big wigs, and his face is known all over. He's also well into the money, considering his profession. He's not at all shy about flaunting any of this to get what he wants.
why? Daniel took up the hero mantle when his wife and daughter were murdered, bent on cleaning things up and revenge.
part three: alter ego ic!
alias: Johnny Law AKA Johnny Outlaw
schtick: Loner cowboy with a mechanical horse and really fancy guns.
appearance: Johnny wears a black suit, complete with a fancy hat and flawlessly white button up shirt. His leather gun belt is slung low on his hips, dual pistols faced for crossdraw. Black boots with gleaming silver spurs and an even more unshaven face. He always carries a silver antique pocket watch and has a black fur collard longcoat for the colder nights. Boldly, Johnny's face is only sometimes covered by a black bandanna while he runs around playing cowboy. He relies heavily on people's general inability to remember details, and the colorful ways vivid imaginations can alter things in memory. Not to mention dumb luck and the fact that those who see him and survive are often too traumatized to give accurate descriptions.
how? Gadgets. The Inventor supplies Johnny with the things that he needs or fixes the things that he manages to break.
He has a slightly more effective and massively lighter than Kevlar armor that he wears under his suit.
A pair of guns that look very much like sixshooters, but are actually dual action semi-automatics with the ornate handles fitted with clips for extra rounds. They come with a pair of specialized speedloaders to assure that Johnny isn't caught off guard needing to reload. Through clever engineering, each gun can hold 27 rounds.
A sawed off shotgun modified to have an autofeed system for the shells. The stock holds the extra rounds he needs, and feeds them through an unseen mechanism. The gun can be turned to full auto for heavy fire situations, or the rounds can be racked the traditional way. The shotgun can hold 100 rounds, 101 with a round chambered. Unfortunately, there's no way to speed load it in combat.
His spurs have tricks of their own. Each one when hit a right way with Johnny's heal throws off a big enough spark to ignite the smallest drop of accelerant.
Johnny's bike is also a brainchild of The Inventor. A classic Harley modified with a bullet-proof exterior. The bike's seat slightly resembles a saddle, and the caps on the wheels are horse shoes. It's fitted with leather saddle bags lined with the same kind of armor he wears and a holster for his shotgun.
Post-Death; Johnny can heal his wounds at an accelerated rate. A side effect of being dead, or being brought back, it's unknown at this point. He doesn't heal super fast, and the more wounds there are, the longer it takes for them all to close up. The use of bandages and ointment is still fairly required in his life.
ethics: Johnny wouldn't hurt anybody who he knows for a fact is innocent, but he'll outright kill anybody he knows who isn't, big or small. He's high profile because of this and the fact that he was one of the first vigilantes out there.
Post-Death; Johnny's ethics have slid a little more to the wayside, and while he might not kill somebody innocent, he might hurt them a little bit if he's got an inkling that they know something he needs to know.
contacts: The Inventor. He hardly talks to the press. Other than the other vigilantes, Johnny doesn't really have any contacts.
